GolfDC’s COVID-19 Preventive Action Plan
& Modified Golf Operations

at East Potomac, Langston and Rock Creek Golf Courses

v.5.27.20 (8pm)

Our GolfDC goal is to responsibly provide access to open park space for the public to enjoy with the requirement of strict social distancing and the provision of extra sanitation precautions at our facilities.  The Health & Safety of our GolfDC guests and employees is our top priority.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
To help fight COVID-19, our GolfDC staff and visitors MUST follow the CDC’s guidance on managing infectious diseases, including maintaining social distancing; covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze and wearing optional face covering; washing hands and surfaces frequently; and most importantly, staying home if you feel sick or have had contact with someone who is sick.

The GolfDC team is trained and ready to implement our COVID-19 modified operating conditions per our GolfDC COVID-19 Preventive Plan.   This plan includes required adjustments to building access, suspension of select services, and our staff no longer selling products or services directly to customers.    A key change is all customers will be required to purchase online greens fees and to use self-service machines at the driving ranges.  We urge all guests to please read and understand the details of our COVID-19 modified operations, which are subject to change at any time.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that all visitors follow our modified operating guidelines and signage at the facilities to maintain social distancing.  If safe social distancing cannot be maintained, the golf facilities will be shut down entirely.

MODIFIED OPERATIONS FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING
Each department that remains open has implemented modified operations to ensure measures are aligned with social distancing and extra sanitizing practices. Below are the modified operating procedures for each department.   This list of changes is dynamic and continuously improved/updated by facility management.

Social Distance Staff:    To help educate the public, we’ve added the new role for our staff as a Social Distancer Educator/Enforcer (SDE) strategically located at our busiest customer traffic areas to help educate and enforce our social distancing measures and to assist with extra sanitation practices, as appropriate.  Our staff are also ready to help assist customers (from a 6-foot distance) with any questions about our modified operational practices.   These new SDE station locations include, but are not limited to, our Parking Lots, Clubhouse Entrances, Starter Areas, and Driving Ranges.

Restrooms:     Our facility restrooms at the clubhouses are CLOSED.   Portajohns with sanitizer dispensers have been relocated to the East Potomac and Langston clubhouse areas along with hand-wash stations.    The one-person restroom at the East Potomac Driving Range is being evaluated for reopening.

Customer Seating:   All seating in every part of the facility (inside/outside) has been REMOVED.

Customer Point of Sales:   All point of sale areas (pro shop, grille, range sales office, academy office) are CLOSED to customer access.  There are no food & drink sales, so customers are encouraged to bring their own at this time.  We do hope to offer online purchases of select F&B items with outdoor delivery at the facility in a future phase of our Plan.

Onsite Pedestrian Flow:    We’ve implemented new pedestrian flow procedures throughout the facilities to better spread visitors across the open spaces.   Please look for and adhere to all facility-specified pedestrian flows.  This is to help ensure everyone’s safety and to avoid the facility being shut down if social distancing is not enforced.

GOLF COURSE Guidance:    The following social distancing operational changes are being enforced:

  1. Green Fees Advance Purchase:   All Greens fees must be prepaid online at GolfDC.com.  There are no golf reservations WITHOUT online advance payment.   There are NO golf reservations/payments onsite or by phone.    Paid reservations must be cancelled ONLINE at least 30 minutes before tee time to receive a refund.

    • Our Pro Shop staff (by phone) is happy to set up a customer’s online tee times account, if assistance is needed.  Please note that your online customer account must be used for online tee time purchases.

    • If a customer arrives at the facility without a tee time, there are NO wait lists.  A “walk-on” must purchase a tee time at GolfDC.com.

  2. Golfer Arrival:  Golfers should proceed directly to the Starter area no more than 10 minutes before your tee time to avoid crowding.  When waiting for the Starter to call you to first tee, please maintain social distancing from others if you are not from the same household.

    • If golfers arrive at facility more than 10 minutes before tee time and do not plan to warm up at the Range, we ask that you stay in your car to avoid crowding at the facility.

    • Tee time intervals have been lengthened to minimize the number of golfers on the course at one time and to help with social distancing.   However, if you catch up with the group ahead of you, please maintain your social distance.

  3. Riding Carts:  Rental of riding carts is available online when you purchase your greens fee.  Cart rental will be subject to availability at the time of play.  Also, we can accommodate cart rental sales onsite by Pro Shop phone.  All carts will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by our staff before issuance to customer.   A customer may elect to ride as a single on a cart or you may share with another cart rider, recognizing golfers may be from same household.

  4. Push Carts:  We are offering free use of push carts, first-come, first-served.  Push carts can be sanitized by golfers who elect to use.   We will have free use of sanitizer cleaner and disposable towels located in the push cart area.  Customers also may bring own push cart.

  5. Rental Golf Clubs:  Golfers must bring own golf clubs, balls, and tees.   Rental clubs and merchandise sales are NOT available.   However, we do hope to accommodate online retail purchases with outdoor delivery at the facility in a future phase of our Plan.

    • Bunker Rakes:  No bunker rakes are on the course.  Please take a drop from all bunkers to nearest point of relief, no closer to hole.

    • On Course Water:   Water coolers are NOT available on the golf course or at the Driving Range.

    • Our GolfDC staff, serving as the Driving Range Social Distancer Educator/Enforcer (SDE), will be stationed in the Range Ball Machine area to control proper sanitation of the ball machine and range baskets/buckets.

  2. All flagsticks and holes on practice greens have been removed.

  3.  Please avoid “long putts” and be respectful to each other to allow appropriate social distancing.  If the putting green is too crowded to allow safe social distancing, this area will be closed.

ACADEMY STUDENT Guidance:   The following social distancing operational changes are being enforced:

  1. Lessons Offered:  All Golf Lessons (private, semi-private and small group) except youth camps will restart with our ReOpenGolfDC Stage 1/Phase 1.   Small group classes are maximum 5 students.

  3. Staff Face Covering:  All Academy Instructors will wear face covering during a lesson.

  4. Pee Wee Camps:   All Camps for kids ages 5 to 8 years old have been cancelled, given the risk that this age group may not safely self-police social distancing practices.

  5. Junior Summer Camps:   All Camps for kids ages 9 t 15 yrs old have been cancelled through June.  We are evaluating if Camps for this age group in July and August are viable under our Academy’s strict social distancing requirement.  Our 8:1 student to instructor Camp ratio is also under review.   We will provide an update to parents on Summer Camps by early June.

  6. Lesson Packages:  Given the impact of COVID-19 facility closures, all Private Lesson Package expiration dates have been extended to 9/30/20.  Any lessons not used by 9/30/20 will expire and can’t be extended or refunded given a new Management contract for the facilities goes in effect on 10/1/20.

  8. Launch Monitor:   We will no longer use the launch monitor given the difficulty to maintain social distancing given the shared use of viewing the monitor.

  9. Club Fittings:   only authorized staff will conduct private club fittings, while maintaining social distancing.

  10. Student Feedback:  If you have any lesson questions or safety concerns, please contact the GolfDC Academy at academy@golfdc.com

PARKING LOT / FACILITY CAPACITY Guidance:

If the facility nears capacity, we will close vehicular access to the parking lot for anybody other than those with advanced paid golf tee times in order to limit crowding.  If you arrive and find the parking lot entrance barricaded, please understand that we must limit the number of people at the facility in order to allow for safe social distancing.  This is for YOUR safety.

We apologize if you are subject to capacity safety closures, but mitigating over-crowding at the facility is paramount.  Please note that our new policy of all golfers being required to make and pay for advance tee time reservations online should help spread the visitor load throughout the day.

EXTERNAL YOUTH GROUP Guidance:

We are not allowing external youth groups to conduct their programming at the GolfDC facilities in 2020.   These groups – The First Tee of Greater Washington, DC, The Langston Junior Boys & Girls Golf Clubs and others – have been invited to prepare plans to return to the facilities in 2021.

FOOD & BEVERAGE Guidance:     We are offering no F&B service in our Phase 1, but hope to implement an option of online ordering with outdoor pickup in our Phase 2 plans.

PRO SHOP / RETAIL Guidance:   We are offering no retail service in our Phase 1, but hope to implement an option of online ordering with outdoor pickup in our Phase 2 plans.

EXTRA SANITIZING OF CUSTOMER AREAS

The GolfDC team is ensuring an extra level of cleaning and sanitizing in terms of expanded scope and increased frequency in the following ways:

  1. Sanitizers for Public Use:  Sanitizer units for public use are installed throughout the facility, including at the Range ball machines. For extra caution, customers are advised to bring their own sanitizer solutions and wipes.

  2. Communal-Surface Sanitation:   Bleach water cleaning protocol is in effect in all parts of the facility, and our staff regularly wipes down door surfaces/handles, hand railings and restrooms/portajohns (if restrooms are open).

  3. Driving Range Balls, Ball Baskets/Buckets, Ball Machines:   Sanitizer is added to the cleaning of Range Balls.  Range Ball Baskets/Buckets are sanitized by a GolfDC team member before customer use.   There are designated areas for customers to return Used Range Baskets/Buckets at the Range.   Self-Service Ball Machines are wiped down regularly before customer use.

EMPLOYEE HEALTHY PRACTICES

The GolfDC team has adopted new required employee practices as follows:

1.     Employee Sanitizers / Hand Washing / Glove Protection:    GolfDC team members have spray bottles of bleach water for continuous cleaning/sanitizing of all work areas throughout the day.    Staff members have been advised to wash their hands as often as possible and to use plastic gloves when touching any shared surface.

2.     Employee Face Covering Protection:   GolfDC team members have been advised to wear a face mask/scarf while at work.

3.     Employee Temperature Log:   Thermometers are available to test employees at the start of their work shift to verify he/she does NOT have a fever.   This data of fever/no fever is logged daily.

4.     Employee Sickness:   GolfDC team members have been advised to not come to work if they are sick.
Managers will monitor staff’s health symptoms on a real-time basis.

SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
Our GolfDC team understands our modified operations are not a perfect situation, but the safety of our guests and staff is paramount in every aspect of these guidelines that we ask everyone to follow.   And we welcome our guests’ feedback (feedback@golfdc.com) on how they view our GolfDC modified operations in terms of effectively ensuring a safe experience for all.   With everyone’s input, we will continue to strengthen and add to these precautionary procedures, as appropriate.

Please regularly check GolfDC.com for updates to our facility status, facility hours and operating conditions addressed by this GolfDC COVID-19 Preventive Plan.

Lastly and most importantly, as we’re all adjusting our lives during this unprecedented challenging time for our world, we are deeply grateful for our staff and visitors as we work together to ensure a healthy environment at the GolfDC courses. Thank you for using the

GolfDC facilities, and we wish you all good health and safety!
